What are your opening hours?
Snowplanet is open 365 days of the year! Please view our opening hours for further information.
Do we need to book before we come?
No, bookings are not required if you are thinking about visiting Snowplanet. However, if you are wanting to have a lesson, bookings are highly recommended as limited places are available. Please phone (09) 427 0044 or click here to email us and make a booking.
How cold is it in the snow dome?
The temperature inside the snow dome is on average, around -5oC
How do you make the snow and how often?
Fresh snow is produced approximately three nights per week at various times to ensure that we have an adequate snow base and to ensure our terrain park is maintained to the highest possible standards. Our snow is groomed every night by our maintenance team to ensure that the snow is always in the best possible condiition and ready for you to carve it up!
What do I need to bring with me?

Do you hire gloves?
Yes, we now hire gloves at a price of $9 per pair. However, we do not hire beanies or socks. Alternatively you can purchase gloves from us at a price of $24.99.
What is the youngest age who can go in the snow & what is the smallest boot size?
We do not specify a yougest age for kids to be able to experience and feel the snow. This is left to the parents discretion, however we recommend that you do not take children under 2 years of age onto the snow and/or infants that can't walk.
We do not have a minimum age for skiing and snowboarding. However the smallest ski boots we have are children's size 10 and the smallest snowboard boots we have are size 3. Please note we have snowboard equipment available for children from a children's size 13, however these are only available for use with Mini Chilly lessons
Do you have lockers and changing rooms available?
Yes, we have lockers available in the Rentals area at a cost of $5 for three hours, or $7 for 12 hours.
Changing rooms are available and are located in the Rentals department.
Do you have showers?
Yes, we do have a shower, located in the Rentals department. Guests wishing to use the shower need to bring their own shower amenities.
Lessons
Do I need to have a lesson?
No, lessons are not compulsory, as guests are able to teach themselves on our beginners slope. However they are highly recommended to ensure you have the best possible experience and to get you up and going as quickly and safely as possible. What are the different lesson options?
The Snowplanet Ski & Board School offers a vast range of lesson options to suit all skill levels, ages and abilities. This ranges from personal instructors, group lessons and performance training to our after-school programme and school holiday programmes. To view our full range of lesson options click here
How do I make a booking for a lesson?
To make a lesson booking, or if you have any questions, please phone (09) 427 0044 and one of our friendly customer service staff will be more than happy to help. Alternatively, you can click here to make a booking by email. Lesson package vouchers are also available for purchase from our online shop.
Restaurant & Bar
How much does it cost to come and watch from the Snowplanet Restaurant & Bar?
There is no charge for spectators and guests who wish to view the action on the slopes from the Restaurant & Bar, and there is no requirement for you to purchase food and beverages either.
Can we bring and eat our own food at Snowplanet?
The Snowplanet Restaurant & Bar does not allow guests to bring and eat their own food and beverages in the Restaurant. However, guests are able to consume their own food and beverages in the rentals area or in the picnic area located outside the front of the building.
