Head Coaches
Brad Aylwin - Head Ski Race Coach
My name is Brad Aylwin. As of October 18, 2011 I will be taking over as Head Race Coach at Snowplanet. I look forward to meeting and working with the entire athlete’s and their parents.
Over the next few months I am going to thoroughly go over all of our race programs and give them a re-structuring and a re-organization. We will have a new look, high energy and high quality program ready to go in the New Year.
Term 4
Term 4 is going to be a review term. The coaches and I will go over a season review with the athlete’s and work on fundamental skiing and racing skills. The athletes can expect to do a variety of drills and gate scenario skiing.
The first session will be practice for the interfield race at Snowplanet on Oct. 29. GS or Sl skis can be used for this session.
All sessions after week one will require Slalom skis. If the athlete does not have a Slalom specific ski, the ski they generally use will be fine.
I do ask that the athlete’s try to be on snow 10 to 15 min before the start time of the session, so they are suitably warmed up. As well, a water bottle to leave at the top of the course is helpful so proper hydration can be maintained. Eating a small portion of food before coming on snow is helpful too. An apple, energy bar etc. Good energy = great learning.
I will have more information for all participants in form of a handout available at the first session.
If you require further information, I can be reached as of today at 365.race@snowplanet.co.nz
